Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is another leading treatment for trauma and PTSD. EMDR is also used for anxiety, panic, phobias, depression and complicated grief. EMDR is an integrative approach that includes mind, emotions and body.
EMDR therapy involves attention to three time periods: the past, present, and future. Focus is given to past disturbing memories and related events. This type of therapy does not include a lot of talk during the therapy and can help decrease the intensity of traumatic memories.
