Child THERAPY IN OKOTOKS, AB
What Is Child Therapy?
Child therapy is a collaborative process between your child, their therapist, and you as a parent. It helps children understand their feelings, work through challenges, and learn healthy ways to cope. Sessions can focus on things happening right now, past experiences, or skills for the future and often a bit of all three.
We also work with parents to offer guidance, tools, and strategies to support their child at home, so the whole family can feel stronger, more confident, and better able to navigate life’s ups and downs. We offer both short-term, solution-focused support and longer-term therapy, depending on your child’s needs.
Child Therapy is:

Transformative
Helping you and your child navigate life’s challenges with greater clarity, coping skills, and understanding

Supportive
A non-judgmental space where you and your child can explore thoughts, emotions, and experiences at your own pace

Empowering
Helps you build confidence, develop healthier coping strategies for you and your child

Child Therapy Approaches
Approaches We May Use In Child Therapy
Our child therapy in Okotoks uses a variety of proven methods to help you and your child. Here’s how we can help:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT helps you recognize and change unhelpful thoughts. It gives you practical tools to cope with worry and stress in everyday situations.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
DBT teaches skills to manage intense emotions and improve relationships. It’s especially helpful if you struggle with emotional ups and downs.
Solution Focused Therapy
Solution-Focused Therapy is a practical, goal-oriented approach that helps you identify your strengths and build on what’s already working. Rather than focusing on problems, it empowers you to create meaningful change by envisioning your preferred future and taking small, achievable steps toward it.
Play Therapy
For children, play therapy is a great way to work through their concerns. It helps them express their feelings and manage stress in a safe and creative way.
Mindfulness
No matter what you’re facing, our child therapy is designed to help you and your child regain control, reduce overwhelm, and move towards a life of calm and clarity.
